Most of us are looking for love in all the wrong places. This is why we find relationships so challenging. We are looking to others to have our needs met. The only one responsible for meeting your needs is YOU.
As spiritual teacher Michael Mirdad says, “You will never have a fulfilling relationship until you have a fulfilling relationship with God first and second is with yourself and then third is with others.”
The golden key is to first have a strong relationship with Spirit, which is the SOURCE OF ALL LOVE. Next to learn to love yourself so deeply and completely that you don’t NEED anyone else’s love. Instead, you become LOVE. And the love that you are, a beautiful alchemy of the Divine and yourself, fills you up so much that it overflows into the relationships around you. This type of love is devoid of neediness and attachment. It comes from an powerful place of wanting to share the love we feel with our family, partner, friends, and more.
How to Love Yourself
Learning to love yourself is a journey. Like any relationship, you have to spend some time getting to know yourself. It will take some time to peal back the layers of what is not you …. the you that your family or friends have told you are or that our culture and society insists that you be, in order to unearth the real you. It will require huge amounts of honesty and the guts to take responsibility and stop blaming life, your childhood, or your ex for your life. You’ll need to be brave enough to face your deepest fears and bold enough to love yourself in all your broken places. But I promise you, once you learn to truly love and celebrate yourself, life will feel rich, full and bubbling over with an abundance of love.
